The development of a sustainable fabric; about Returnity and Inspire.
In 2010 DutchSpirit developed the first sustainable, recyclable fabric Returnity, in collaboration with Backhausen from Austria. Backhausen is famous about their specialism on furniture fabrics. This fabric was the first real sustainable work wear fabric that is completely recyclable and free of toxins. For 2 years DutchSpirit was exclusively selling Returnity in Europe.
In 2012 DutchSpirit was the first to launch a 100% recyclable, sustainable Returnity work wear. From production to use, from collecting to recycling to new fabrics. The Dutch EcoSmart, part of the van Gansewinkel Groep, did the first purchase. Not long after that the RZT Hopsital in Tiel followed their example. Michael Braungart personally gave recommendation about the uniqueness of DutchSpirit’s sustainable work wear fitting the Cradle2Cradle principle.
After Backhausen decided tot stop the Cradle2Cradle certification on their fabrics DutchSpirit decided to look for a new producer, specialized in clothing fabrics. We found Schoeller from Switzerland, one of the worlds best suppliers of innovative fabrics for clothes. At the request of DutchSpirit, DutchSpirit and Schoeller developed the new, fully recyclable fabric Inspire. Inspire is DutchSpirit’s ‘sustainable work wear fabric 2.0’. Better special developed yarns, less pilling, high tech coatings, more comfortable and, how nice, more affordable!
With the extra options of coatings, Inspire is a unique product and the best work wear fabric for the future!
